Oh hellooooo Festivus, it’s been quite a while.
An ardent plea from Linda to resuscitate the blog had me in a fitful state of guilt all week. Blogger’s block be damned, I’m back biatches!!
So on to the topic at hand: major swoon-worthy TV/movie scenes. Sunday’s season finale of Game of Thrones featured the return of the moon of MY life, KHAL DROGO! Dany, Drogo, the tent, the surprisingly adorable baby (who, by the way, should have been a lot swarthier) – I’m not much of a cryer, but goddamn. The producers really threw me a bone with that one. I’m sure Muff and Babygirl were rolling their eyes the minute he came on screen.
And since I seem to be in a romantical mood, here’s a few other hearbeat-skipping moments from the silver screen:
Sixteen Candles, 1984: The Birthday Cake Scene
If you haven’t seen this scene, let alone this movie, stop reading immediately. You are not welcome on the Festivus. A little Feinberg trivia; Marge’s ringtone for her high school boyfriend was set to this song, Thompson Twins ‘If You Were Here.” Ah, teenage love. (No video, the internets failed me!)
Pride and Prejudice, 2005: Mrs. Darcy
After seeing this at the theater, Muff and I turned to each other and said in unison “I want to be Mrs. Darcy!” (Again, no video, I tried folks)
Romeo + Juliet, 1996: Every Scene in This Entire Movie
Take your pick – the one where they meet in the bathroom through the fish tank, the pool, the morning after. I’m a sucker for a good movie cry, so I prefer the final death scene. Dammit Leo, just look down for second! (FYI, ignore the slavic subtitles)
My So-Called Life, 1994: The Boiler Room Episode
18 years later and this scene still makes my heart hurt.
