3 sisters, 2 parents, 2 uncles and 2 red standard poodles from NYC and Westchester County (i.e the Best-chester). We’re 29, 26 and 24 respectively. Betsy’s the oldest, she’s an Exhibition Manager at a contemporary art gallery in the city. Katy comes next. An AVP at a lobbying firm, she’s currently living in the dirty dirty South. (not really, she works in Raleigh and lives in Durham, NC – they’re both extremely pleasant). Margaret’s the youngest and orneriest. She used to work at a consulting firm in DC but she’s making the move back to NYC in the Fall to get her MBA.
Our parents are Lindsay and Stephen and they are THE.BEST. Stephen’s a Jew and Lindsay grew up a shiksa wasp but converted to Judaism when they got married . . . which means we get to celebrate Hanukkah AND Christmas! WOO! You’ll often see them referred to as Linda and Larry. When our father acts like Larry David from Curb Your Enthusiasm – we call him Larry. When Lindsay’s being wispy we call her Linda. It’s just one of those things.
We have 2 fabulous uncles, Jay and Patrick. Jay’s a minor celebrity in the world of Jewish mom home decorating. If you’ve ever been to Neiman’s and stumbled on the Jay Strongwater section – yup, that’s him. Sparkles, sparkles, sparkles. Patrick is his partner in crime and he loves gin martinis and NY people watching.
Last, and most importantly, we have 2 red standard poodles and their names are Sadie Boots McGee and Henry Foot Foot McGoo. They’re cousins so they have different last names. Boots is 8 and she’s a salty, salty girl. Mr. McGoo is 3 and he loves his tennis ball. Imagine Muppets meet FAO teddy bears. You may think your dog’s cuter but you’d be wrong.
